Today my group and I expected to not find much because today was a day of setting up our dig areas. We experienced how well everyone in the Alligator group and other groups around us worked together. We also experienced that the Creek Indians used to river reeds to make their arrows. My group and I expected to learn how to create and measure out a dig site. The expectation to create the perfect dig area were met today on dig day 1. We expect for the job to be tough but in the end for it to be quite worth it. Today we went to the end of the corn field close to the Wedowee Creek and set up our dig area. In this area the map shows the signs of a possible Indian home. We got to experience that looking at the date on the trash you find can tell you a good bit of information about the area it was found in. Our expectations were met because we were taught how to create a dig area, we learned how to spot artifacts, and we experienced how tough this dig is going to be. My group and I anticipate that we will start to find more fire cracked rocks and other signs of Indian artifacts as we begin to dig deeper into the soil.
